Emergency Dental Care in Pleasanton CA

How to deal with dental emergencies?  The answer is simple – to prevent them from happening.

But sometimes, you may meet any dental emergency despite taking preventive dental care. While some of the dental emergencies can be managed, others may require immediate medical attention. It is advised to visit our dental clinic at the earliest and get in touch with our dentist to reduce tooth pain, discomfort, and further problems.

Toothache

Excruciating toothache is a dental emergency and must be addressed at the earliest. Cleanse your mouth using a saltwater mixture to loosen the particles of food. Make it a habit to floss your teeth properly. You can also apply an ice-pack externally to relieve yourself from pain and swelling.

Broken Teeth

Broken teeth may happen because of an accident, injury, falling, or other reasons. Upon meeting such a dental emergency, preserve the broken pieces of your teeth. Give a saltwater rinse to your mouth and wash the pieces of your teeth. If you are bleeding too much from the injury site, put a clean piece of gauze and hold it for 10 minutes. We will also prescribe you some over-the-counter medication to manage the pain.

Chipped Teeth

Just like broken teeth, chipped teeth, too, require medical attention. Rinse your mouth with warm water. Put gauze on the site of the chipped teeth and try to protect your mouth’s interior.

Knocked-Out Teeth

If your tooth or teeth have been knocked out, the first thing to do is rinse your mouth with warm water and collect the knocked-out tooth. Try to place the avulsed tooth back into the socket without pushing it much. If the insertion is impossible, put it in a cup of milk and get in touch with us.

Lost Crown

Sometimes, you may also lose your dental crown. Cover the site of the injury with gauze. Try to place your crown back to the teeth, and do not apply any dental adhesive.

Missing Filling

A missing filling is also considered a dental emergency. Try to recover the fragments of the fillings and cover the exposed area with a clean piece of gauze.

Abscess

An abscess is a condition when the infection reaches your teeth and their nearby area. The problem may lead to a lot of pain, discomfort, and swelling. When you experience such pain, rinse the area using salt water to relieve the discomfort. Manage your swelling with an ice pack.
